CoupleNest ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of our users. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share your information when you use the CoupleNest mobile application (the "App"). By using CoupleNest, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

a) Information You Provide

  • Account Information: Name, email address, and profile photo when you sign up via Google or Apple sign-in.
  • Profile Details: Display name, avatar, and relationship details (e.g., anniversary date, partner name).
  • Content: Messages, love notes, mood check-ins, photos, posts, quiz answers, calendar events, goals, todos, and love jar notes you create within the App.
  • Partner Connection: Invite codes used to link your account with your partner.

b) Information Collected Automatically

  • Device Information: Device type, operating system, unique device identifiers, and app version.
  • Usage Data: Feature usage patterns, session duration, and interaction events (anonymized).
  • Push Notification Tokens: Firebase Cloud Messaging tokens for delivering notifications.

c) Information We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not access your phone contacts, call logs, or SMS messages.
  • We do not track your precise location. LDR Mode city display is manually entered by you.
  • We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain the App's features (chat, love notes, calendar, goals, etc.).
  • To connect you with your partner via invite codes.
  • To send push notifications about partner activity (messages, love notes, mood check-ins, virtual hugs).
  • To generate relationship insights and analytics (streaks, mood trends, weekly reports).
  • To improve the App experience through anonymized usage analytics.
  • To respond to support requests and communicate important updates.

3. Data Storage & Security

  • Your data is stored securely on cloud servers with industry-standard encryption (TLS in transit, AES-256 at rest).
  • We use Firebase Authentication for secure sign-in and token management.
  • Photos and media are stored in secure cloud storage with access restricted to you and your connected partner.
  • We implement access controls, regular security audits, and monitoring to protect your data.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We may share limited information only in these cases:

  • With Your Partner: Content you create (messages, notes, photos, moods, etc.) is shared with your connected partner as part of the App's core functionality.
  • Service Providers: We use trusted third-party services (e.g., Firebase, cloud hosting) that process data on our behalf under strict data protection agreements.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or government request.

5. Your Rights & Controls

  • Edit Profile: Update your name, avatar, and relationship details at any time in Settings.
  • Notification Preferences: Control which notifications you receive in the App's settings.
  • Data Export: Request a copy of your data through the Settings menu.
  • Disconnect Partner: Unlink your account from your partner at any time.
  • Delete Account: Permanently delete your account and all associated data from Settings. This action is irreversible.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all personal data, messages, photos, and content are permanently deleted from our servers within 30 days. Anonymized, aggregated analytics data (which cannot identify you) may be retained for service improvement purposes.

7. Children's Privacy

CoupleNest is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will take steps to delete it promptly.

8. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

  • Google Sign-In (authentication)
  • Apple Sign-In (authentication)
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging (push notifications)
  • Firebase Authentication (account management)
  • Cloud storage services (media hosting)

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you via the App or email. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
